Washington Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard confirms the team will make it a priority to re-sign Davis Bertans this offseason, per Fred Katz of The Athletic.

Bertans, one of the best 3-point shooters in the NBA, becomes an unrestricted free agent in the offseason. He opted not to play in the Disney bubble out of fear of getting hurt in a pivotal financial summer for him and his family.

It is also worth noting that the Wizards sharpshooter has torn his ACL twice.

The Wizards need to keep Davis Bertans, as he's the perfect stretch shooter to pair alongside All-Stars John Wall and Bradley Beal. Washington should be playoff contenders next season since Wall will be back in the lineup with Beal.

Bertans and Wall could certainly give teams problems in the pick-and-pop game.

In 54 games during the 2019-20 regular season, Bertans averaged 15.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 29.3 minutes per contest. The Latvian Laser shot 43.4 percent from the field, 42.4 percent from beyond the arc and 85.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Bertans made 200 shots from deep before the 2019-20 season was suspended in March. You can only imagine how high that number would have gone if games didn't get canceled.

Bertans is expected to sign a lucrative deal this offseason. If the Wizards don't offer him a contract he likes, Bertans will likely have a bevy of suitors.
