The Washington Wizards did not have a very good Friday night. Not only did they suffer the insult of a 130-122 defeat at home to the Cleveland Cavaliers due to LeBron James’ 57 points, but star point guard John Wall also suffered a shoulder injury during the game which he said he regrets playing through.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, Wall suffered the sprained shoulder after colliding with Cavs big man Channing Frye, but still decided to play on. Wall still finished the game and had 13 points on just 4-of-13 shooting, along with 15 assists and six rebounds. He underwent X-rays, which thankfully for the Wizards; were negative.

However, it remains to be seen whether Wall can be able to play through the injury. He is hopeful he can, but only time will tell. The Wizards will play next on Sunday, Nov. 5 at the Toronto Raptors.

Although Wall has not had a great start to the season shooting the ball, he remains invaluable to the Wizards team. It was admirable of him to play through an injury in what he and the Wizards likely felt was a big game against the Cavs, but his long-term health remains more important.

If Wall’s shoulder does force him to miss some time, backup Tim Frazier figures to see heavier minutes at point guard.
