In news that no one wanted to hear, Washington Wizards All-Star point guard John Wall has revealed that his mother is battling cancer.

Wall told NBC Sports Washington the sad news during an in-game interview on Friday while the Wizards were playing the Cleveland Cavaliers at home.

Everyone needs to keep John Wall and his family in their prayers. This is arguably been the toughest year of Wall's career. He underwent season-ending surgery on his left heel and then recently tore his left Achilles tendon after slipping in the bathroom at home.

Wall and his mother have a very close bond. Wall grew up without having his father around, so he was always closely tied to his mother. During an awards ceremony at the University of Kentucky a few years ago, Wall broke down in tears while speaking about his mother and how much she means to him.

With Wall being out for the season, the former No. 1 overall pick can spend time with his mother. Basketball doesn't matter at all right now. Obviously, his rehab will be something he needs to keep up with since his injury was serious, but the main focus should be with his mom and being with her during this tough time.
