The Washington Wizards surprised the NBA world when they acquired forward/center Kristaps Porzingis from the Dallas Mavericks. Porzingis' time in Dallas didn't go quit as the franchise had planned, partly due to the big man's injury history rearing its ugly head. Unfortunately, Porzingis' debut with the Wizards will have to wait a bit longer. The Latvian big man received an injury update from head coach Wes Unseld Jr. that won't make fans very happy, per CBS Sports.

“After the break, we were concerned about just throwing him out there,” Unseld said. “So, still kind of ramping things up for him. He looked good in what he did, the 1v1 type stuff, so I think we'll reevaluate where he is tomorrow and then go from there. But it was a good sign to see him do a little bit more today.”

Kristaps Porzingis has yet to be cleared for contact by the Wizards and has been limited to “one-on-one stuff.” Unseld said that the franchise was concerned with throwing Porzingis into the fire after the All-Star break, so they have proceeded to ramp him up slowly.

Porzingis hasn't been officially ruled out for the team's upcoming back-to-back against the San Antonio Spurs and Cleveland Cavaliers this weekend, though there's very little chance that he is able to suit up with such a small practice workload.

The former Mavs center has only appeared in 34 games this season, as he has dealt with a nagging knee injury. Unfortunately, as this recent update suggests, Porzingis doesn't appear to be any closer to suiting up in games for the Wizards unless he sees a serious increase in his practice workload before the weekend.
