As we all know, Washington Wizards big man Montrezl Harrell wasn’t exactly happy with his role on the Los Angeles Lakers last season. He basically fell out of the rotation and barely saw a lick of playing time in the playoffs and was very vocal on how he felt.

Speaking on Wednesday about how he will fit with the Wizards, Harrell made sure to throw some massive shade towards LA. Via Chris Hughes:

Yikes. In fairness though, the Wizards forward played just 22.9 minutes per game in 2020/21, averaging 13.5 points and 6.2 rebounds. That was almost significantly lower than his usage with the Clippers the two seasons prior. The straw that broke the camel’s back for him was his absence in the playoffs. Harrell featured in only four games and was benched in games 2 and 3 against the Suns in favor of Marc Gasol and Andre Drummond.

Now, with the Wizards, he should be a huge piece of their rotation on a nightly basis. It was a blessing in disguise that he was involved in the Russell Westbrook trade because clearly, Harrell wasn’t happy in LA. He totally has the right to be upset and throw shade because the veteran is a proven player in this league.

To say he had a year off is a bit of an exaggeration, but there’s no doubt Harrell will be very fresh with the Wizards.
