Washington Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard provided an update with regards to John Wall's recovery in a recent interview with Fred Katz of The Athletic.
Wall tore his Achilles at home while recovering from left heel surgery back in February. His recovery is going well, but he remains without an official timetable for return:
Sheppard on waiting to hear back on the potential DPE for Wall: That’s out of our hands. We’re waiting on the league for that. It’s not abnormal that we haven’t heard back on that."

Sheppard on Wall: “These kids respect and revere him for what he’s accomplished in his career … We’re very pleased. We’ve watched the process. We’re not waiting on a calendar (timetable) for him to come back."

As part of his interview, Sheppard pointed out the fact that Wall missed quite a bit of action over the last two seasons:
Sheppard: "The one piece I think that I’d like to see from John (Wall) is where you really have to watch the game, learn where it’s at now. The last two seasons, he’s missed a lot of time and the game has changed a lot the last two seasons.”

Wall commented on his recovery process in a recent interview with NBC Sports Washington, noting that he has been lifting weights, shooting jump shots and practicing his ball-handling skills:
“I'm great, man. Just rehabbing, working out and lifting weights. I'm shooting some jump shots, doing some ball-handling and stuff like that,” Wall told NBC Sports earlier this month.
Though he seems to be progressing at a steady pace, most experts believe Wall will miss all of the coming season as he continues to recover. Still, it is good to hear that his rehab is going well.
The Wizards finished the 2018-19 regular season with a 32-50 overall record, which left the team out of playoff contention. Without a doubt, they'll be looking for improvement in this campaign.
