Washington Wizards starting center Daniel Gafford threw down a massive dunk over Charlotte Hornets' Nick Richards. With the Wizards leading 13-12 early, Gafford got the ball down low and went up and threw it down in Richards' face. It got worse though. The ball came through the hoop and bounces off Richards face and back out of the basket.

The Washington Wizards are seeking their 6th straight win as they visited the Charlotte Hornets Wednesday night. The Wizards have been one of the biggest early season surprises in the NBA.

Entering play Wednesday, they sit atop the Eastern Conference at 10-3. They have been doing it mostly on the defensive end. Washington is among the league leaders in points allowed. Meanwhile, the Hornets have been a bit of a surprise themselves. They entered the game 8-7 and lead the East in scoring at over 113 points per game.

In their most recent victory, the Wizards erased a 19 point deficit to beat the New Orleans Pelicans. During the 2nd half of that game, Washington turned it on defensively. Gafford dominated in the paint, recording three blocks. Gafford is not much of a threat offensively, but is turning into one of the better rim protectors in the league in only his third season.

Following the game in Charlotte Wednesday, the Wizards head to Miami for a home and home. They will then host the same Hornets back in Washington next week.
