The Washington Wizards got off to a flying start to begin the 2021/22 campaign, but they've slowed down significantly since. The team is just 23-27 which currently puts them out of the playoff and play-in picture altogether and that's certainly not to the liking of superstar Bradley Beal.

Beal has remained committed to the franchise who took him third overall in the 2012 draft, but according to The Athletic, he is starting to grow frustrated with the Wizards' inability to actually be a legitimate contender. Beal also believes they're not doing enough to build around him and make the team a force in the Eastern Conference:

The team’s nosedive since its hot start has frustrated Beal, leaving him less sanguine about just taking the big bag next summer and staying in Washington. For the first time in a long time, sources close to Beal indicate he’s not rejecting out of hand the notion of trade elsewhere — even though his preference is to remain with the Wizards.

Neither Beal nor his representatives, though, have officially asked for him to be moved with a week left before the deadline. And the Wizards have not changed their position. They want to continue building around Beal. They believe Wes Unseld Jr. will wind up being an upgrade at coach, and they still have high hopes that recent first-round picks Rui Hachimura and Deni Avdija have higher levels to reach.

Again, Beal isn't asking for a trade away from the Wizards. But there are undoubtedly some frustrations building up. The veteran becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer and could sign elsewhere, but Washington is also likely to offer him a massive extension of around $235 million this summer. He wouldn't make that type of money with another organization.

It will be interesting to see what happens this offseason with Bradley Beal. It will likely be based on if the Wizards can turn things around in the second half and make a run at a postseason spot.
