Well, this is a shocker. After being franchise tagged by the Green Bay Packers, Davante Adams was moved to the Las Vegas Raiders in a blockbuster trade. Adams was by far the team’s best wide receiver, and losing him is a massive blow to the team, who just re-signed Aaron Rodgers.

With Rodgers potentially retiring soon, the Packers need to scramble quickly to get a suitable wide receiver replacement for Davante Adams. Luckily for them, the wide receiver pool is still pretty deep, with plenty of names that they could grab as a partner for A-Rod. Here are the best wide receivers that the Packers should sign.

4 best wide receivers Packers must sign after Davante Adams trade

Jarvis Landry

This one is a no-brainer.

Jarvis Landry’s surprising release from the Cleveland Browns made him one of the most enticing prospects in the league. The star wide receiver had a down year in 2021, but a big part of that was due to his ankle injury early in the season. That, and playing with a hobbled Baker Mayfield might have hampered Landry’s stats a bit.

Adams was easily one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. It would be hard replacing his production on the Packers since he was elite at nearly every aspect. However, Jarvis Landry gives them a close approximation of Adams’ peak, and at a potentially lower cost than Adams as well. Playing with a top-tier quarterback like Rodgers also could boost his performance.

Julio Jones

One of the best receivers of his generation, Julio Jones joined a stacked Tennessee Titans roster last season, joining AJ Brown and Ryan Tannehill. However, injuries and old age seem to have limited the former Falcons star, as he recorded career-lows in receptions and yards per game. He was unavailable for most of the season too, missing multiple games.

Despite all of these reasons, Julio Jones should still be on the Packers’ priority list. At his peak, Jones is an excellent pass-catcher and route runner, and his height makes him a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. An offense with both Jones and Rodgers would be extremely fun to watch… if he can stay healthy, that is.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling

The team’s free-agent priority list doesn’t just apply to outsiders, though. The Packers also have a free agent wide receiver that needs to be dealt with: Marquez Valdes-Scantling. With Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard staying put, keeping another part of their receiving core should help greatly with the team.

MVS was one of the team’s top receivers in 2021, getting 26 catches for 430 yards last season. With Adams gone, most of the receiving workload will fall on him and Lazard. Keeping him on the roster is a must for the Packers, as losing him would be devastating for their receiving core.

Juju Smith-Schuster

Juju Smith-Schuster’s career has been a rollercoaster thus far. After a ho-hum rookie year, Juju broke out in Year 2, becoming the Pittsburgh Steelers’ best receiver behind Antonio Brown. Since then, Juju has been chasing that high, but injuries and inconsistency have been his biggest issues.

Playing for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers could be the best thing that can happen to Juju Smith-Schuster. After playing in an offense led by an aging Ben Roethlisberger, Rodgers’ high-flying offense could be the perfect thing to invigorate Smith-Schuster. At the very least, he’d be an awesome WR2.
