The Toronto Raptors, Fred VanVleet, and Pascal Siakam had a very disappointing season. They missed the playoffs with a record of 27-45. They made the playoffs just a season ago but took a step backward this season and will need to adjust the offseason to improve the roster.

Just two seasons ago the Raptors were on top of the basketball world as NBA Champions. Obviously there has been some turnover on the roster since then as star Kawhi Leonard left to the Los Angeles Clippers after winning the championship. The Raptors also lost some key role players from that team and will need to retool the roster going forward.

Here are the 5 best trades the Raptors can make in the offseason to pair with Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam.

Raptors trade targets:

5. Guard Ricky Rubio

While Kyle Lowry has been a Raptors legend he is a free agent and could leave the team in free agency. It's hard to pickup the same level of production that Lowry brought so the Raptors will have to adapt. Ricky Rubio could become the backup point guard and take on the passing ability that Lowry brought.

Although Rubio isn't a great scorer he is one of the best pure passing point guards in the league. He would make a great addition to the Raptors bench unit and would be great at organizing the Raptors offense.

The Raptors should make this trade to improve the overall passing of the offense.

4. Forward Cam Reddish

A young wing like Cam Reddish would be a great fit for the Raptors. He has been part of the Atlanta Hawks young core but could be dealt for the right price. Whether Reddish was starting at small forward or coming off the bench he would be a great compliment to the rest of the team.

The Raptors should look to make a move for Reddish as he would provide defense and three point shooting,

3. Center Mo Bamba

Mo Bamba hasn't gotten a ton of experience in his career so far but could be a solid backup center for the Raptors. The Orlando Magic are in the midst of rebuilding the roster as they traded away key players at the deadline. Bamba could also be moved and could become a part of the Raptors bench core.

Bamba averaged 8 points per game along with 5.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks. While these numbers aren't elite he is still a young player that could develop even more.

If the Raptors make this move they could have a backup center for years to come.

2. Guard Malcolm Brogdon

The Raptors need to accept the reality that Lowry may leave the team and free agency and find a replacement. Indiana Pacers guard Malcolm Brogdon as they seem to be headed toward a rebuild. Brogdon would fit very well especially next to VanVleet.

He averaged 21.2 points per game with 5.2 rebounds and 5.9 assists. Brogdon also shot 38.8 percent from the three point line and would be a great fit on this Raptors team.

If Brogdon becomes available the Raptors need to pounce on it.

1. Center Christian Wood

The Houston Rockets are heading toward a rebuild and they move on from Christian Wood. Wood was signed to a 3 year $41 million dollar contract last offseason and played great in his first year with the Rockets. Unfortunately star James Harden requested a trade early in the season which was detrimental to the team.

The Rockets finished with a record of 17-55 but Wood was a bright spot for the team. He averaged 21 points per game to go along with 9.6 rebounds. He is a very talented offensive player and would fit well in the Raptors offense. Siakam and VanVleet would be the main beneficiaries if they can acquire Wood.

If the Raptors can make these trades in the offseason the team will be set for a return to the playoffs.
