When fans watched in horror as Adam Copeland dropped feet first in a botched flying elbow attempt during his don't-call-it-Hell-in-a-Cell cage match against Malakai Black at AEW Double or Nothing, most had a pretty good idea that he didn't survive the spot in one piece, as the “Rated-R Superstar” was limping around pretty severely in the aftermath.

Did Copeland break a bone? Blow out a tendon? Or could it have been something worse, an injury that may require immediate medical attention like, say, a lacerated kidney?

After two days with no official word, Copeland took to social media to update his fans on his status and how he will address his health moving forward.

“Hey everybody, Double or Nothing flew back yesterday; Malakai Black, dude, is an animal; all of the House of Black is just really, really, really d**n good. And I guess, as you're about to find out in this video, the house always does win because I gained two new friends (crutches). I don't really like them; they're kind of like those buddies that just annoy you, but they're always there. I don't know, like Brody and Buddy or something. Anyway yeah, I've been feeling good lately, been having so much fun in the ring, and I got cocky; I guess is what it really boils down to,” Adam Copeland told fans on social media.

“I'm probably a narcissist, an Egomaniac, and I'll probably have to unpack that one day. But yeah, my brain forgets what my body always seems to remember a little late in that I'm 50, and I need to make better choices, so my body pulled the emergency break on me the other night, and I ended up fracturing my tibia which is going to require surgery; I don't know the timeline on that. Ruby's birthday is on Friday, and I really want to enjoy that and focus on all of the positives in my life because there way more of that than the bad. And even this surgery, I know what I need to do, I'll find out the timeline and everything next week and everything and yeah, I don't know what else to say… So yeah, I will see you soon-ish, and in the meantime, everybody be good and try and be happy.”

How long will Copeland be out of action? Frankly, it's impossible to know until he reveals his official prognosis. But now, it's safe to say he will be out of action indefinitely and will likely have to surrender his strap as a result. A Cope Open Invitational for the TNT Championship, anyone?

Tony Khan is happy to have AEW on TNT and TBS.

Going from the TNT Champion to TNT, the network, Tony Khan discussed AEW's media rights deal in an appearance at the Double or Nothing media scrum, letting fans and reporters alike know that he's happy to be a part of the greater Warner Bros Discovery family and will continue to negotiate with them on a new deal moving forward.

“It's a really big year [for AEW]. I think a lot of you know some of these details, but to peel back the curtain, this is our media renewal year, and like a lot of athletes or teams, in a big year with a big opportunity, we're all really swinging for the fences here. So it's going to be really important for us. We've been now going on five years at Warner Brothers Discovery and it's been the most amazing relationship,” said Khan. “When we started this, something that was really important to me was bringing wrestling back to TNT and TBS because it really … to the American fans, it is something I grew up on, and it's a tradition that goes back over 50 years and it had been interrupted for too long and it's really great having wrestling on TNT and TBS. It just fits like a glove in my opinion,” Tony Khan explained via Wrestling Inc.

“I know we were having great talks, and I'm very blessed to be engaged with the awesome leadership of Warner Brothers Discovery. Mr. Zaslav has been amazing for AEW. Again, like I was just saying, to be able to create new opportunities after several years of being here and a couple of different, great regimes, including the awesome regime that helped us launch this, it's been so refreshing to have Mr. Zaslav come in with a fresh perspective and want more AEW and give us the opportunity to do a Meal and a Match, give us every Saturday night on TNT for ‘Collision,' and I would absolutely love to stay here as long as they would have us.”

Considering AEW is currently in an exclusive negotiating window with Warner Bros Discovery, it makes no sense for TK to be anything but complimentary of his current media partner, as it would frankly be counter-productive to do anything else. Still, we'll see if his tune changes in a few months should the promotion land elsewhere, as that formality would no longer be necessary.
