As League of Legends gears up for its Season 12, Riot developers shared that characters from the hit Netflix show, Arcane, could make an appearance as new champions soon. Fans have already expressed their sentiments about the popular or favorite characters from the chart-topping animated series and soon enough they might see these personas become full-fledged champions in the flagship game.

Arcane enjoys global success, prompts expansion of League content

The creators of Arcane based the narrative heavily on the world of League of Legends, known as the Runeterra universe, focusing on the realm of Piltover. As such, League gamers easily recognized some of the characters that appeared in the show, being very well-designed animated versions of champions including Jinx, Caitlyn, Jayce, Vi, Singed and Viktor.

But the show also introduced several other characters that are not League champions at all. Since these characters played rather significant roles in the narrative arc—which took inspiration from existing champion lore—fans began wondering whether these were hints to new champions slated for release in the game.

Moreover, the popular characters especially were making a case for themselves to potentially arrive on Summoner's Rift. After all, Arcane performed exceptionally well around the globe and even brought in new, non-gaming fans into the Runeterra universe. The astounding reception within and beyond the gaming community even pushed the team to confirm production for season 2 for the series after the debut season finale aired.

Possible Arcane characters arriving in League of Legends

According to Ryan “Reav3” Mireles, the lead champion producer for the game, the development team already started discussing possible Arcane characters to “port” into League of Legends.

“With how much Arcane has resonated with so many players and viewers, the [champions] team is definitely excited to explore characters from Arcane that would make sense in our [League of Legends] MOBA setting in the future,” Reav3 explained in a Reddit response.

While Reav3 did not spoil us as to who could debut on Summoner's Rift, or even the potential timeline for the release, fans are hoping to see some of the popular Arcane characters cross the media form from animated show to video game. These could include: Silco, Mel and Ambessa Medarda, Deckard, Finn, Mylo, Claggor, Bolbok, and Sheriff Marcus. At the same time, fans have also been theorizing whether any of these characters are actually existing League champions already (like how Powder is Jinx).

Whatever the crossing over between Arcane and League of Legends unfolds to be in the future, Riot devs did confirm that players can expect new champions to arrive at the start of Season 12, though they won't be characters from the show.
