Nathan MacKinnon is now a Stanley Cup champion for the first time in his career, and so as he and the Colorado Avalanche gear up for their celebrations, he wants his good friend Sidney Crosby to be ready.

As MacKinnon shared to reporters after their incredible Game 6 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday, he has always been the “drunkest” guy in the Cup parties of Crosby. Now that he's a champion as well like the Pittsburgh Penguins star, Crosby needs to pay it back with interest.

“I've been the drunkest guy at (Crosby's) Cup parties so he better be drunk at mine,” MacKinnon said, per Ian McLaren of Locked on Bruins.

Sidney Crosby was among the first players to react to the Avalanche's win, even paying a tribute to Nathan MacKinnon since he knows how hard the Avs star worked and how badly he wanted it.

With that said, we're pretty sure Crosby won't have a problem being the “drunkest guy” this time when MacKinnon hosts his championship parties. In fact, it might be the new champ who needs to get ready to let the alcohol flowing. After all, it's his first ring and the Avs haven't won the title since 2001–that's more than 20 years of wait packed into one.

It is certainly nice to see the Avalanche win and celebrate, though. After a dominant run that saw them finish with a historic 16-4 postseason record, they deserve every bit of fun they can get.
