The Chicago Bears welcomed new defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano this offseason. It appears he has already made quite the impression on cornerback Kyle Fuller.

The two have had time to get well-acquainted through OTAs and mandatory minicamp. According to Adam Jahns of The Athletic, Fuller is admittedly impressed with Pagano thus far:

“(Pagano’s) pretty impressive,” Fuller said. “Vic was a great coach. But just working with Chuck now, I’m pretty impressed with his teaching style, his coaching style, his motivational style. He does a pretty good job at it.”

It’s not only the stories and life experiences that Pagano shares, but also how he delivers them. It’s more than football.

“That’s really real,” Fuller said. “It’s just the type of person he is.”

It is encouraging to see two of the more integral members of this defense starting to hit it off so soon. The developing relationship between Pagano and his players is going to be one of the notable aspects of the offseason. It seems he has done what he can to make a solid first impression.

Pagano certainly has some big shoes to fill moving forward. Last year's defensive coordinator Vic Fangio managed to turn this group into one of the most formidable defenses in the league last season. Although he has since departed to become the new head coach of the Denver Broncos, the expectations are still as high as ever in Chicago.

It is safe to assume that Pagano will be relying heavily on Fuller just as Fangio did. The 27-year-old was given his first career All-Pro and Pro Bowl nod last season. Fuller is undoubtedly looking to keep it going amidst the new changes.
