Chuck Pagano was hired this offseason as the Chicago Bears defensive coordinator after Vic Fangio left to take the Denver Broncos head coaching job. Pagano is one of the most respected coaches in the league, but even he admits to being such a lucky guy to get such an opportunity.

Pagano was fired by the Indianapolis Colts last offseason but doesn't have any ill feelings towards the owner or the rest of the front office.

“I’m not bitter,” Pagano said from Illinois the other day via Yahoo Sports. “I’m better. [Colts owner] Jim Irsay and I have a relationship for life. I love Jim Irsay. I love the organization. At some point coaches have to say goodbye to teams, and teams have to say goodbye to coaches. If you win, you keep your job, and if not, they move in a different direction. I never took it personal.”

Because the Colts decided to move on, he now gets a chance to coach for one of the teams most storied franchises, and Pagano feels like he has died and gone to heaven.

“And now I get to coach with one of the great franchises in sports, the Chicago Bears. I’ve died and gone to heaven.”

Pagano is probably also excited about the players that he is going to get to work with in Chicago. The star is Khalil Mack, but this is an overall solid defense that Pagano is going to get to mold into his own. Pagano is excited to be in Chicago, and if he leads the defense to success, Bears fans will feel the same way about him.
