Chicago Bears running back David Montgomery will be back in the lineup this weekend after clearing concussion protocol, though it seems he went through the ringer.

Montgomery missed the team's Week 10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, and he said he lamented not being able to take the field with his teammates:

“I learned I didn’t want to be at home and I wanted to be on the field,” Montgomery said, via Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune. “The last thing I wanted to be is at home and feel useless and feel helpless.”

The second-year running back also revealed it was the worst concussion he has suffered.

This season has not quite gone as planned for Montgomery. Chicago has had a hard time getting the running game going, and an injury-riddled offensive line has hardly helped Montgomery and the Bears gain traction.

The 23-year-old has rushed for just 472 yards on 3.6 yards per carry and has also watched his role in the passing game diminish in recent weeks.

However, the former Iowa State product has had an extra week to recover with the Bears on a bye last weekend. Chicago will hope he can provide some explosiveness as the Monsters of the Midway prepare to take on the archrival Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

Both teams enter the weekend needing a win. The Packers lost their grip on the game in an overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts last weekend, while the Bears have lost four straight.

Perhaps a big game from a healthy Montgomery can get Chicago's offense rolling and help end the losing streak.
