Khalil Mack and the Chicago Bears started the season off 3-1, but have since come back down to earth and hold a 3-3 record heading into Week 8. Defensively, the Bears have gotten off to a roller coaster start as well. They were one of the better defenses in the first four weeks of the season, but have dropped off in the last two games.

Part of the issue for the defense has been due to Mack dealing with an injury. Mack has slowed down considerably since the ankle injury occurred.

According to a report from the Chicago Bears' official Twitter account, Mack is questionable to play this week against the New York Jets.

Thankfully, if the Bears were to rest Mack for a week, the Jets are a good team to do it against. New York has not had a consistent offense this season and are led by rookie quarterback Sam Darnold. Chicago could very well get away with resting Mack and still have a good game defensively.

Throughout the first six games of his first season with the Bears, Mack has racked up 20 tackles, 5.0 sacks, four forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, an interception, a defensive touchdown, and two defended passes.

Needless to say, Mack has been putting up numbers that could put him in contention to win the Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Chicago needs their star pass rusher to get back on the field at 100 percent in the near future. They have missed him in a big way and will not be the same until he is back at full strength.

Whether he plays this week or not, the Bears should be able to find a way to pull out a big win to move to 4-3 on the season.
