Chicago Bears linebacker Khalil Mack will not play in the Pro Bowl this weekend due to injury, according to Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times.

It was not specified what injury Mack is dealing with, but this marks the second straight season that the star pass rusher bypassed the Pro Bowl.

Mack's absence also comes as no surprise, as he made it rather clear last month that he had no interest in making the trip to Miami, saying “next question” three times when asked if he would be participating.

Green Bay Packers linebacker Za'Darius Smith will be replacing Mack on the Pro Bowl roster.

Mack played in all 16 games this season, finishing with 47 tackles, 8.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and four passes defended in what was actually a down year for him.

The 28-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Buffalo, was originally selected by the Oakland Raiders with the fifth overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.

He appeared in every contest during his rookie campaign, logging 76 tackles and four sacks. Mack then broke out the following season, racking up 77 tackles, 15 sacks and a couple of forced fumbles en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and a First-Team All-Pro selection.

From 2015 through 2018, Mack recorded four straight double-digit sack seasons, making the Pro Bowl every year and notching First-Team All-Pro honors three times in the process.

Just before the 2018 campaign, the Raiders traded Khalil Mack to the Bears. The 28-year-old went on to total 47 tackles, 12.5 sacks, an interception, six forced fumbles, a pair of fumble recoveries and a defensive touchdown in his first season with Chicago.
