The Chicago Bears are going to have an open competition for their starting quarterback job this offseason and a former player has an idea of who will win. While speaking about the topic, Chris Long said that he believes Nick Foles will beat out Mitch Trubisky for the starting job.

Long, who won a Super Bowl with Foles in 2017, says that he is pulling for Trubisky to be the starter next season. However, the retired defensive end seems to think that Foles' experience gives him the upper hand.

Just this past season, Trubisky finished with 3,138 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in his third year with the Bears. Despite showing regression in his third season, Chicago was adamant about Trubisky being their starter in 2020.

But early in the offseason, it was apparent that the Bears wanted to add a veteran presence at quarterback. Therefore, Chicago thought a trade for Foles would be what is needed to push Trubisky this offseason.

For Foles, he spent the 2019 season with the Jacksonville Jaguars after signing a four-year, $88 million deal. In his first game with the Jaguars, Foles suffered a broken clavicle versus the Kansas City Chiefs.

Foles is nearly three years removed from winning a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2017. At the same time, he hasn't shown he can be a long-term starter in his eight-year career.

Not long ago, it was reported that Trubisky would get the first snaps in training camp. Nevertheless, Long envisions Foles coming out on top when the dust is settled before the 2020 season.
