Following their successful first season last summer, the Big3 League, created by rapper and actor Ice Cube, is looking to expand their teams’ rosters and bring in more big names to their fold. After seeing the likes of Baron Davis, Carlos Boozer and Metta World Peace, just to name a few, agree to take their talents to the league, former NBA big man Amar’e Stoudemire has recently signed to join Tri-State, and will be their co-captain.

The 35-year-old will play alongside his fellow captains Jermaine O’Neal and Nate Robinson, to form a very formidable squad that could compete for this coming season’s title. With Tri-State only finishing in sixth place last year, the acquisition of Stoudemire will definitely be a huge boost to them and instantly increases their chances of winning it all.

Stoudemire played in the NBA for 14 seasons and suited up for four different franchises. He was the ninth overall pick back in the 2002 draft and went on to win a number of honors and awards from the league, including being named Rookie of the Year, All-NBA Team member five times and six-time All-Star, among others. He owns impressive career averages of 18.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.2 blocks in 846 games. It can be recalled that the 6-foot-10 big man signed a contract with the New York Knicks two years ago to retire with them, having represented the team for five seasons from 2010 to 2015.

Stat last played professionally in Israel with the team he co-owns, Hapoel Jerusalem, and will be interesting to see what his current conditioning is. If he plays close to how he did earlier in his pro career, it will definitely be a huge advantage for Tri-State and could help them live up to expectations, especially with the level of talent they now have in their fold.
