The Houston Rockets' disgruntled star in James Harden continues to explore his options and recently added the Portland Trail Blazers as a new addition to his list of potential destinations.

The rumors caught the eye of Blazers guard C.J. McCollum who already had foresight on what is going to happen if a trade pushes through at some point in the future.

“What am I supposed to think?” McCollum said via The Athletic. “I play the same position as James. If there is a trade for James, who is going to be in the trade?”

McCollum's pairing with point guard Damian Lillard has been fairly successful for the Blazers in recent seasons. They have never missed the postseason as the starting backcourt duo but also never got close to reaching the NBA Finals throughout the years.

To break the monotony, one could figure that a trade for James Harden would work best for the Blazers and that McCollum will certainly be a part of the package. The former Lehigh standout not only gives the Rockets a reliable scorer but also a player who is taking strides to improve his game in each passing season.

In addition, McCollum's $29.3 million salary for the 2020-2021 season would be attractive for the Rockets as they are likewise getting rid of Harden's lucrative contract which is valued at $41.2 million this year.

Trading away the 2016 NBA Most Improved Player of the Year would be a huge risk to take for the Blazers where they will be getting James Harden who isn't promised to stay with the team in the long run.

Nonetheless, C.J.McCollum's solid performance including his game-winning shot against the Houston Rockets in their second game of the season just proved to the team that he still remains to be a crucial piece of the Blazers puzzle moving forward.
