The St. Louis Blues are making sure Colton Parayko isn't going anywhere. He and the franchise agreed to an 8-year contract extension on Wednesday, per the Blues website.

Parayko sounds thrilled to remain with the Blues.

“I can't wait to wear the Blue Note for another nine years,” Parayko told stlouisblues.com. “St. Louis has been my home now for six seasons, and this is where I want to be. All the relationships I've gained, the teammates I've had, and the organization have all had a big impact on me. Winning here in 2019 was special, and I want the chance to stay here and do that again.”

The extension is worth $52 million for Parayko, who has scored 41 goals and chipped in with 13o assists throughout his regular season games with the Blues. He also has 8 goals and 19 assists in 70 career playoff games played.

A general consensus seems to be that Parayko is giving the Blues a discount. He was set to hit free agency at the end of next season and many believe he would've warranted a much larger contract than what he received from St. Louis. Both sides seem more than thrilled with the deal, though.

The deal will keep Parayko with St. Louis through the 2029-30 season.
