The St. Louis Blues put up a valiant fight against the Colorado Avalanche, but they were ultimately defeated in a six-game series. Star defender Torey Krug missed the entire second round after sustaining an injury in St. Louis' first-round matchup against the Minnesota Wild. Not having the veteran defenseman available was a big loss for the Blues against the Avs, and Craig Berube's latest comments on Krug's injury are sure to have fans confused and furious.

Speaking on the injury to the defenseman, Berube admitted that Krug was pushing to play in Game 6 vs. Colorado, but the coach opted to hold him out because he “didn't think it was worth it at the time,” via Lou Korac.

Essentially, Berube is admitting that he left Krug out of the lineup during an elimination game because he didn't think it was worth it to have him return. It's a jaw-dropping statement from Berube, as the Blues were up against one of the NHL's most potent offenses. Having Krug available in the elimination game in Game 6 would have been a major boost for St. Louis, and to know that Berube had the option to deploy him, and simply chose not to, is utterly mystifying.

Across 64 games in the regular season, Krug registered 43 points. He was one of the team's top defenders all year and the postseason injury was a major blow for St. Louis. Fans will always be left wondering what kind of impact he could have had on the 3-2 loss in Game 6, and Berube's decision to keep him out of the mix will likely draw significant blowback in the coming days.
