The St. Louis Blues are going toe to toe with the mighty Colorado Avalanche in the second round of the 2022 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, but the job could get harder for them, with their no. 1 goalie, Jordan Binnington, apparently suffering an injury in Game 3 of the series Saturday night at home.

Binnington exited the contest following a collision in front of the net involving multiple players. At the moment, it's not clear whether Binnington will be able to return to the game to patrol the crease for the Blues, who will have to go forward in the game with backup Ville Husso between the pipes.

It's an unfortunate development for the Blues, who lit the lamp first with a Colton Parayko goal barely four minutes into the contest.

Without Binnington, the Avs smelled blood and capitalized on the opportunity to strike, as Logan O'Connor found the back of the net seven minutes later to tie it all up in the first period.

Jordan Binnington headed to Game 3 coming off sensational performances in the first two games of the series. In Game 1, he stopped 51 of 54 shots he faced, albeit in a 3-2 overtime Blues loss. In the following game, he allowed just a goal on 31 shots faced to help St. Louis even the series.

The 28-year-old Binnington entered Saturday night's game with a remarkable 4-1 record in the playoffs with a 1.75 GAA and .948 SV%. Husso, on the other hand, is 1-2 across three postseason starts with a 3.02 GAA and .906 SV%. He is going to need the Blues' defensemen's help to limit the shots he would face from the high-flying attack of the Avalanche, who were fourth overall in the league back in the regular season in terms of scoring with 3.76 goals for per contest. Moreover, St. Louis will have to provide enough run support for Husso in order to make him more comfortable in this high-pressure game.
