Boxing superstar Gervonta Davis improved to 24-0 with a knockout win over WBA “super world” junior lightweight champion Leo Santa Cruz on Saturday. Today, however, he’s in the news for a different reason.

The win gave “Tank” his 23rd knockout of his professional career, and seemed to open up even more options for future fights.

But Davis is in a bit of hot water after being involved in an alleged hit-and-run accident in Baltimore.

Authorities believe Davis ran a red light and ultimately caused a crash early Thursday morning, per CBS Baltimore:

Baltimore Police was called to the scene for a report of a multi-vehicle collision. They found several people suffering from minor injuries and one person was taken to an area hospital for treatment, according to their report.

According to police, a vehicle ran through a red light and struck another vehicle, then left the scene.

Police would not confirm if Gervonta Davis was at the scene or driving the vehicle, but a source tells WJZ Davis was driving the car that ran the red light.

This is not the first time Davis has made headlines for unsavory reasons.

The 25-year-old was charged with battery in February after allegedly getting into an altercation with his ex-girlfriend and the mother of his child.

It is unknown whether Davis will face charges in the hit-and-run incident. For now, “Tank” has his fair share of challengers.

Ryan Garcia has been calling Davis out since March, and he said again after Davis’ knockout victory he believes he can beat the WBA champion.

Time will tell whether Gervonta Davis and Garcia will meet in the ring, though “Tank” might first have to answer for this latest incident.
