The arrival of wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns has re-instilled a new sense of hope into the city. Cleveland has not had this much fan-fare since NBA star LeBron James returned to his hometown to win a championship.

Both have become well-acquainted through the years as two of the biggest stars in their sports. According to Tom Rock of Newsday, James wasted no time in welcoming Beckham to Cleveland:

“He said you're gonna love Cleveland.” Notes that LeBron brought a championship to Cleveland. “I want to be able to do the same thing.”

James was able to deliver Cleveland its first NBA championship a few years back. Those high expectations have now transitioned over to the Browns following a promising 2018 campaign. It is clear that Beckham is embracing those championship expectations moving forward.

Although the Cavs winning an NBA title was a historical period for Cleveland, it pales in comparison to the prospect of potentially winning a Super Bowl. The city has always been a football town, and this is proven by the fact that they have had unwavering fan support regardless of their struggles over the past two decades. Beckham now has an opportunity to etch out his spot in Cleveland lore.

The Browns have ushered in quite the bevy of talent on offense over the past two years. Quarterback Baker Mayfield and running back Nick Chubb proved to be the real deal in their rookie campaigns. The duo of Beckham and his good friend Jarvis Landry has solidified Cleveland's expectations on offense.
