The Boston Celtics sent a message Thursday night with their 140-99 win over the Milwaukee Bucks. Boston's chances of regaining the top seed in the Eastern Conference before the season is all over may be low — Milwaukee owns a 1.5-game lead over the Cs — but the Celtics proved on Thursday that they can beat the Bucks on their home floor.
Following Boston's molly whopping of Milwaukee, NBA insider Chris Broussard appeared on FS1's show, First Things First, to break down his takeaways from the game. And Chris Broussard went on to explain why the Bucks should want to avoid the Celtics in the postseason, per a tweet from First Things First's official Twitter account:
“No one is going to shut Giannis down. But the Celtics do as great of a job as possible. The Bucks have no answer for the Celtics' athleticism.”
Giannis Antetokounmpo, 28, is in his 10th year in the NBA, all as a member of the Bucks franchise. He's averaging 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game across 61 appearances this season (all starts).
A Bucks-Celtics playoff series this spring feels inevitable. The Bucks and Celtics haven't just been the two best teams in the Eastern Conference all season. They've also been the two best teams in the league, at least record-wise. And while Chris Broussard's statement on how the Celtics guard Giannis better than any other team is true, don't count out the Bucks in a playoff series against Boston. After all, the Bucks will have a healthy Khris Middleton in the fold this time around.
