In his first year as the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, Mike Budenholzer transformed the squad from a mid-tier team to a title contender. And this is due to his microscopic attention to every detail in the basketball court.

Per Eric Nehm of The Athletic, big man Brook Lopez revealed how ‘picky' Budenholzer can be when it comes to seemingly small things on defense.

“If S.B. (Sterling Brown) doesn’t get back from the corner in transition, even though there is no transition defense, or I’m not spaced in the right place,” Lopez explained. “Any little random thing and really, because it’s him, he (Budenholzer) can pick out any little thing and take it away if he wants. He’s very picky with that.”

Eric Bledsoe, who has had a terrific season, added to Lopez's observation. He knew that a significant change is about to ensue in his second year with the Bucks.

“Just in that play, you could see he dissects everything,” Bledsoe said.

Before the Bucks, Budenholzer was with the Atlanta Hawks from 2013 to 2018. There, he guided the Hawks to multiple playoff appearances including a 60-win season in the 2014-2015 season. He was also crowned Coach of the Year. And when things went downhill, he parted ways with the team and was hired by the Bucks not long after.

After a dominating the regular season, the Bucks are in the second round and are about to face the Boston Celtics. Some are still iffy about the Bucks relative experience in the playoffs. But given Lopez and Bledsoe's testimony, it seems like the Bucks are a different team contrary to public perception.
