After the Milwaukee Bucks signed reigning back-to-back MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo to a record-breaking supermax extension, it appears that new teammate Jrue Holiday is now the next man in line for a huge deal. That is if you believe an anonymous league executive who remains adamant that Holiday himself is due a max extension.

According to an unnamed team exec, the Bucks will now set their sights on Holiday, who is currently entering the final two years of his current contract:

“Jrue will get a max extension now,” as one of the Eastern Conference executives told Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Holiday, who just arrived in Milwaukee following an offseason trade from the New Orleans Pelicans, has two more seasons remaining on his current deal. He is set to earn $26.1 million this coming campaign, and interestingly, he holds a $27 million player option for the 2021-22 campaign.

This simply means that unless the Bucks sign the 6-foot-3 combo guard to an extension in the near future, he could walk away from the team as a free agent next summer. That's the last the Bucks wants to happen now, especially considering how they gave up quite a haul in order to bring Holiday to Milwaukee.

It is also important to note, however, that a lot will be expected of Holiday this coming season. The Bucks brought him in for a reason, and the team will expect a significant return on their investment. Needless to say, how he kicks off the 2020-21 season will likely have a significant impact on his impending extension with the squad.
