Through the first few months of the season, Zach LaVine has yet to get on the court in his first campaign with the Chicago Bulls.

It appears that he is getting quite close to making his return as head coach Fred Hoiberg recently stated that LaVine is working well in practice, according to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Tribune.

“I was able to watch a lot of the practice – they went at noon over at the Advocate Center as we were preparing for Portland. It was good to see him out there. Again, he’s in training camp mode right now, but he’s handling the workload well and that’s the important thing.’’

Zach LaVine has progressively taken steps forward in his recovery from an ACL tear over the last several weeks that he suffered back in February. He has already been assigned to the Bulls' G-League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls, on Sunday and is expected to go through a full week of practices before the team makes a decision.

The fact that Fred Hoiberg is speaking positively about LaVine's activity in practice, in particular handling his increased workload, certainly bodes well for him making his return in the near future. That said, the Bulls are in no rush to bring him back in the fold given the significance of the injury and his importance to the team's future.

This is simply a situation that Chicago will monitor closely over the next several days before making a decision on the next plan of action.
