Jabari Parker says he was surprised the Chicago Bulls traded Bobby Portis to the Washington Wizards with him last season.

The Bulls traded Portis and Parker to the Wizards for small forward Otto Porter Jr. Parker knew he was going to be traded by Chicago because he had spoken to the organization about being moved. The former No. 2 overall and head coach Jim Boylen didn't co-exist.

However, Parker — a Chicago native — didn't see the Portis move coming.

“Bobby’s situation was a little different because he had been drafted by [the Bulls] and he’d done everything for them,” Parker told Alex Kennedy of Hoops Hype. “He was surprised because they’d had more dialogue with him – more than they had with me – about leadership and about the team and stuff like that. I was pretty surprised that they gave away such a good talent like Bobby at such a quick pace.”

Bobby Portis is now on the New York Knicks, while Jabari Parker is with the Atlanta Hawks. The Bulls won the trade with the Wizards, as Otto Porter Jr. played very well with Chicago last season and is now part of the core in The Windy City.

Portis was hurt by the Bulls trade. The power forward got his first taste of the business side of the NBA.
