Nikola Mirotic has finally broken his silence regarding the whole Bobby Portis saga. The Chicago Bulls forward has revealed that he has accepted his teammate’s apology for punching him in the face and sustaining injuries which have seen him miss the first quarter of the season.

Mirotic had not spoken to the media nor Portis since the heated incident in practice which left him concussed with facial fractures. However, he was spotted sharing a cordial fist bump with Portis while he was on the bench for the Bulls’ most recent game against the Phoenix Suns.

Mirotic’s decision to accept Portis' apology is a significant departure from a few weeks ago when Mirotic had avoided Portis and didn’t see a way he and Portis could coexist on the same team. Apparently, though, time has helped heal some of those wounds.

It’s very big of Mirotic to do so after what was a traumatic experience between the two of them. It shows good character on his part to take that stance.

But even with Mirotic’s acceptance of the apology, there’s still a lot of work to be done in terms of mending a relationship that likely won’t be the same again.
