The Washington Redskins had a bit of a quarterback controversy this offseason, with Case Keenum, Colt McCoy and rookie Dwayne Haskins all battling for the starting role, but Keenum has silenced any doubt that he deserved to be the starter over the first two weeks.

Thus far, Keenum has thrown for 601 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions while completing 69.1 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 111.2. The Redskins are 0-2, but that does not change how well Keenum has been playing.

But on Monday night, Keenum will face what will be his stiffest test thus far in Washington's Week 3 matchup against the Chicago Bears, as Keenum will have to try to find a way to be effective against a fierce Bears defense.

No disrespect to the Dallas Cowboys, who have a mighty fine defense in their own right and allowed Keenum to go 26-of-37 for 221 yards and a couple of scores, but they are not the Bears.

Chicago has what is probably the best defense in the NFL, holding Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers to just 10 points in Week 1 and thwarting the Denver Broncos in a 16-14 win last Sunday.

While Keenum has looked good and does have an alright track record as a starter, the Redskins don't exactly have a ton of weapons offensively, and against the Bears, that will likely be a major problem.

Rookie wide receiver Terry McLaurin has looked good over the first couple of weeks, but otherwise, Washington's offense is barren of elite talent, and that could be a recipe for disaster this weekend.

I find it hard to imagine Keenum continuing his success against Chicago, a defense that includes Khalil Mack, Roquan Smith and Eddie Jackson. I will say that the Redskins will be at home for this one, so Keenum won't have to also battle the raucous Soldier Field crowd, but the Bears' defense is elite no matter where the team plays.

I certainly don't think Keenum will be completing around 70 percent of his passes against this group, and I also think there is a very good chance he throws his first pick of the season.

Keenum is experienced enough to know what not to do, but that doesn't change the fact that Chicago has immense talent on defense and will make him work for everything in this matchup.

With the Bears really needing a win to get to above .500, I don't envision Keenum having a fun afternoon.
