Although the Arizona Cardinals secured a dominant win over the New York Jets in Week 5, they suffered a major casualty in the process with linebacker Chandler Jones. Their worst fears were confirmed after it was revealed that he is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a biceps injury.

Despite the news, Jones did post a picture on his Instagram story indicating that he is in good spirits heading into surgery, via ESPN's Josh Weinfuss:

Cardinals general manager Steve Keim also acknowledged just how big of a loss Jones is to this defense, per Darren Urban of the team's website:

“I said this weeks ago, that there are certain players you cannot replace,” Keim said, via Pro Football Talk. “You can’t replace Chandler Jones. Now collectively as a group we all have to step up, but you can’t replace Chandler Jones. Unfortunately, Deacon Jones in his prime is not out there. You have to do the best you can.”

While the comparisons to Hall of Famer Deacon Jones may be a stretch, there is certainly plenty of truth to Keim's comments. Despite registering just nine tackles and one sack through five games this season, he has been the Cardinals' best pass rusher with double digit sacks in every year since his arrival.

Jones' absence will leave a rather notable void on a defense that was already struggling to find its footing. Arizona has since signed Denver Broncos linebacker Isaiah Irving to help provide some depth on the edge.

Regardless, it is difficult to imagine the Cardinals the same kind of production from this group without Jones.
