The Arizona Cardinals received some stunning news when the NFL announced a six-game suspension for star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins had traces of a banned performance-enhancing drug in a test administered by the league back in November. After the news of the suspension, Hopkins' brand manager, Doug Sanders, sent a text to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, which included a strong response to the league's announcement.

Sanders said that “Hopkins and everyone who works with him” is stunned by the positive drug test and the NFL suspension. As Sanders says in his statement, the Cardinals star takes phenomenal care of his body and had never tested positive in his 10-year career before this instance.

Hopkins' manager finished his message by saying that he and the rest of the Cardinals star's team are examining everything that he took to determine what caused the positive test.

The Clemson product and his team are setting out to prove that he didn't knowingly take anything that was a banned substance by the NFL. Hopkins can practice and play in preseason games, but the suspension will take effect at the beginning of the 2022 regular season.

Hopkins dealt with hamstring and knee injuries at the end of last year's regular season. In nine seasons, the Cardinals star has six 1000-yard campaigns, has made it to five Pro Bowls and has earned All-Pro honors three times.
