Many would argue that former Houston Texans and current Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is the best pass catcher in the entire NFL as it stands today. Not only that, but those arguing in favor of such a notion wouldn't necessarily be wrong either.

However, according to the latest Madden ratings, Hopkins would technically slot in as the second-best at his position behind only Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams, who had an absolutely monstrous 2020-21 campaign — when healthy, that is. With Hopkins coming in at 98 overall, which is still quite impressive, Adams has officially joined the exclusive “99 club” as the Packers wideout has managed to secure a nearly perfect rating from the folks over at EA Sports.

As one would imagine, a competitor like Hopkins was none too pleased upon learning about his spot on such a list.

Prior to landing in the desert through a trade from the Texans to the Cardinals ahead of the 2020-21 campaign, Hopkins had spent his entire NFL playing career in Houston. The former Clemson Tigers standout was originally selected by the Texans in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft and has since gone on to play eight professional campaigns.

The 29-year-old Hopkins most recently appeared in all 16 regular-season games for the Cardinals en route to producing 115 receptions for 1,407 yards and six touchdowns. On the other hand, the aforementioned Adams tallied 115 receptions for 1,374 yards and a whopping 18 touchdowns despite appearing in just 14 regular-season games for the Packers.
