D.J. Humphries of the Arizona Cardinals is no stranger to making a leap from year one to year two in the NFL. After a stellar rookie season, Humphries is excited to see what Kyler Murray can achieve in his second season in 2020.

“Listen I made a pretty big jump from my rookie year to my second year, right? Yes,” Humphries said, via Bob McManaman of the Arizona Republic. “That was with what I started with as a rookie. Now when we transfer and we talk about Rookie of the Year Kyler Murray, just imagine the attention to detail that this guy’s been locked in on all offseason. I mean, the way this kid focuses, it’s hard to compare it to any other rookie I’ve been around. I’ve never seen it.

As a rookie in 2019, Murray proceeded to throw for 3,722 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. While Arizona posted a 5-10-1 record, the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft would also rush for 544 yards and another four touchdowns. To reward him for his efforts, Murray won the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

Ever since his days at Oklahoma, Murray has been an uberly confident quarterback. The confidence that Murray shows on and off of the field is something that's resonated with Humphries.

“It’s fun and it’s refreshing to see, because he is so confident in himself and the way that he does stuff, you can tell that’s why he’s so focused on everything he does and the way he does stuff. He’s all about backing up what he says and how he feels about himself and it’s so refreshing to see. That’s the energy I want from my quarterback. I’m so excited to watch this kid go from Year One to Year Two. It’s going to be exciting.”

With the addition of DeAndre Hopkins, Murray is expected to drastically improve in 2020. Similar to how fans and the media feel, Humphries is confident that Murray will turn heads next season.
