Kyler Murray might be just a rookie, but that doesn't mean he isn't taking charge of the Arizona Cardinals.

Veteran wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald loves what he has seen from the first-year quarterback thus far, saying that he has shown incredible maturity right off the bat.

“I know him running Lincoln Riley's offense is very similar to what Coach Kliff runs, but on the first day he's calling audibles and getting us in plays that are favorable to the offense,” Fitzgerald said, according to Robert Klemko of Sports Illustrated. “So I was really impressed by his ability to take a leadership position first day at the offense. I was impressed with how smart he is, how determined he is. His future is extremely bright.”

The Cardinals selected Murray, who played his collegiate football at the University of Oklahoma, with the first overall pick of the NFL Draft back in April in spite of taking fellow quarterback Josh Rosen with their first-round pick the year before.

However, to clear room for Murray, Arizona ended up trading Rosen to the Miami Dolphins for a third-round pick.

Murray is coming off of a junior year in which he threw for 4,361 yards, 42 touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 69 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 199.2. In addition, he rushed for 1,001 yards and 12 scores, averaging 7.2 yards per carry.

The Cards won just three games this past season and have not made the playoffs since the 2015-16 campaign, but they are hoping that Murray reverses their fortunes.
