New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony has dabbled in social activism and philanthropy. He has been more vocal recently in wake of controversial national events, more specifically for the inner city.
After winning his third gold medal in Rio, Anthony traveled to Puerto Rico with some of his Knick teammates for a fundraising event.
A Very Melo Weekend 2016 was part of his Carmelo Anthony Foundation that featured golfing, dinner, and a youth basketball game.
The ultimate goal is to help underprivileged communities give kids alternative activities away from crime and street life. Anthony also made sure his foundation built the basketball court for the youth to play long after he is gone.
The Foundation is not only working on US soil but expanding outside of the borders, and helping change lives in the global community.
Anthony's philanthropic ways is slowly becoming an even greater part of his life than basketball.
It didn't hurt that there was an opportunity for the players to spend time together and develop some chemistry before the upcoming season.
