Former Ole Miss Rebel and Boston Celtic Justin Reed is now in the most difficult phase of his life. In a tweet from SEC reporter Brad Logan, it was revealed that Reed has been diagnosed with spinal cancer. The former Ole Miss standout is set to undergo further treatment after going through one surgery according to the same tweet.

Hoop fans probably would best remember the 35-year-old Reed for his exploits back in his college days, when he made the All-SEC team in each of his four years in Ole Miss. He finished his college career with 1,785 points, which is currently the 25th most in SEC history.

After college, Reed was selected 40th overall by the Boston Celtics in the 2004 NBA Draft. He went on to play four seasons from 2004 to 2007 for the Celtics and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Reed averaged 3.5 points and 1.4 rebounds in 136 games played in the NBA.
