Boston Celtics big man Al Horford has been dealing with a sore left knee, but it sounds like the All-Star forward will be well enough to play in Thursday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers in London, England.

Horford, now 31 years of age, participated fully in Tuesday's practice with his coaches and teammates at a London-area health club.

“Knee’s OK. I was able to go through practice. I felt some discomfort there but was able to practice, so I should be good to go,” Horford said.

“It was kneecap area, something very different than happened to me before,” he said of the injury. “A couple days rest has been good for me. I have to keep treating it and should be good to go Thursday.”

The Celtics have won six consecutive games, including Saturday's 87-85 victory over the Brooklyn Nets. Having so many days off between games should be advantageous for Horford.

“Definitely different for us,” Marcus Smart said of Boston's extended break. “We’re used to playing three and sometimes four games a week. This rest is much-needed.”

Celtics head coach Brad Stevens was cautious when answering questions about Horford's status, but he did mention that the former No. 3 overall pick performed well in Tuesday's practice.

“I don’t want to speak to how he’ll feel tomorrow, but he did well today,” coach Stevens said of Horford.

Without a doubt, Horford has played a big role in Boston's success through the early phases of this season. In his 39 games played, he's turned in averages of 13.4 points on 52.0 percent shooting from the field (42.2 percent from beyond the arc), 7.8 rebounds, and 5.3 assists.
