The run in being the greatest franchise in the league does not stop with Banner 18. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum still have a lot to give to the Boston Celtics after winning the NBA Finals. Celebrations may still be ongoing while fans of other squads are staying mad but the NBA Draft is where it all starts. Brad Stevens and Joe Mazzulla might not be picking in the lottery but they did find someone who fits the bill well. He goes by the name of Baylor Scheierman and Tom Brady might just like him.

The Celtics picked Baylor Scheierman with the 30th overall pick. He has all the markings of being a great fit alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. It also helps that he is a rookie out of Creighton who won't be in need of much money. After all, the team's financial situation is not that great after they got pushed to the second apron.

But, the city where the Celtics reside might already love him. If this NBA Draft pick does not pan out with the Joe Mazzulla and Brad Stevens-led squad, maybe he can go straight to the New England Patriots to train under Tom Brady. This is largely because Baylor Scheierman was an elite football player before moving to Creighton for college, via Celtics on CLNS.

The elite shooter was a quarterback back in high school. He even notched some big accolades to go along with that career path. Eventually, he started to realize that basketball was for him and no longer pursued that passion of throwing lasers a la Tom Brady. Now, he has the opportunity to make the Patriots a fan with his elite outside shooting and perimeter defense. Scheierman is bound to be a big part of the Celtics' title defense and run for their 19th banner come next season.

What does he give to the Celtics?

Unsurprisingly, this is another player who can play five out well that they acquired in the NBA Draft. Scheierman is an elite knockdown scorer from all three levels of the floor but he excels the most with his outside stroke. He was able to score 18.5 points for Creighton against tough Big East squads like UConn. Moreover, his efficiency saw him knock down 44.8% of his shots from the field. The cherry on top that Coach Mazzulla and Stevens would love is that his three-point attempts see the bottom of the net 38.1% of the time. He did this while attempting over eight shots from outside on a nightly basis.

Scheierman is likely a solution to guys like Oshae Brissett and Sam Hauser needing bigger contracts. This became a problem after they won the NBA Finals. The Celtics cannot afford to dole out more money because they have to extend Jayson Tatum and Derrick White. Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis' contracts will also be due in the near future.

So, having their player development program do its magic on an already great shooter is going to be crucial. He might spend some time in Maine but Scheierman does have a shot at being a full-time rotational player with the Celtics.
