The Boston Celtics landed both PJ Dozier and Bol Bol from the Denver Nuggets in a three-team, four-player trade that also involved the San Antonio Spurs. However, it doesn't look like they have big plans on playing them.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Celtics have no immediate plans to waive Dozier or Bol, at least not before the trade deadline. This suggests that Boston could be planning to use the two players as bargaining chips for a possible future trade, with Woj hinting that their Bird Rights could be useful for the team.

Both PJ Dozier and Bol Bol are currently sidelined due to injuries, with the former done for the season due to an ACL tear and the latter out for at least three months because of a foot injury that needed surgery. With the way things are, it seems they will not suit up in green despite being sent to the Celtics.

For what it's worth, this also means that the Celtics are not yet done making moves with the February trade deadline looming.

As it currently stands, the Beantown team is outside the playoff picture at 23-22. But they are not without a fighting chance since they can still qualify for the play-in or work their way up for the lower seeds.

Clearly, they need some roster tweaking in order to contend among the top dogs in the East, and they are positioning themselves for that.
