The Boston Celtics are off to a torrid start to the 2017-18 season on a 14-game win streak that has put them atop of the league with the best record at 14-2.

However, head coach Brad Stevens recently stated that he believes the Celtics could be playing much better than they are at this juncture, according to Chris Forsberg of ESPN.

“We haven't played well enough to consider this win streak to be valid in my opinion,” Stevens said Saturday morning at Boston's shootaround at Philips Arena. “We've figured out ways to win games. We gotta play a lot better.”

These comments come just a couple of days after the Celtics topped the defending champion Golden State Warriors at TD Garden in a close affair on Thursday night. It was a hard-earned win that has brought much validity to the caliber of team that Boston has put together.

They currently possess the league's top scoring defense allowing just 94.1 points per game that were showcased against the Warriors' limiting the league's best offense to just 88 points. This may simply be Steven attempting to publicly push his team to continue to strive to play better and not get comfortable or slack off in any manner.

There are things that the Celtics can look to improve as they currently rank 23rd in offensive rating, which can improve with more playing time that All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving gets along with second-year guard Jaylen Brown and rookie Jayson Tatum get on the floor this season. At the same time, this will also give a clearer picture in determining if Boston is a legitimate title contender.
