The Boston Celtics battled their way to the 2022 NBA Finals, only to fall two games shy of the title. They lost Game 6 to the Golden State Warriors. As a result, the Dubs celebrated with a parade in San Francisco, and the Celtics addressed the loss with the media.

President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens spoke to the media on Tuesday. In his press conference, Stevens explained what went wrong in the Finals after the team's valiant postseason run through the East.

Celtics reporter Keith Smith tweeted Stevens' explanation during his presser Tuesday morning.

“We came up short and it was our offense more than anything else. A lot of that was us, with the turnovers, but a lot of that was the excellence of the Golden State Warriors.”

Stevens then said that the difference between the Celtics' success through the East and their loss to the Warriors was the contributions from the bench.

“I thought our depth was good through the East playoffs,” he said. “Then we struggled off the bench in the Finals. Whether that comes through guys in the program now, or we increase that ability from the outside. We're going to try to do both well.”

At the end of the day, the team came up short. However, they proved that they have what it takes to be a championship-contending team. They just have to work out a few kinks before the start of the 2022-2023 season to push them to a championship.
