The Boston sports community has always been pretty appreciative of their players. Derrick White, a new acquisition of the Celtics during the trade deadline, got to experience that first-hand. The ex-Spurs guard got a warm round of applause during his debut game against the Denver Nuggets.

“It was crazy. I got goosebumps. That was awesome. I really appreciated that ovation.”

Derrick White came to the Celtics by way of trade, as the team sent off-season signing Josh Richardson to the Spurs. White, a former Team USA player, showed his potential under Gregg Popovich's system, thriving as one of the lead guards. With the Cs suddenly streaking in the middle of the season, the front office found a way to trade off a struggling asset for a good player.

White immediately repaid the Celtics fans' enthusiasm with a marvelous debut for the team. The ex-Spurs guard tallied 15 points off the bench in a 108 – 102 win over the Nuggets, and was part of the closing lineup. His shooting and defensive prowess helped overcome a Nikola Jokic triple-double performance.

After a weird first half of the season, the Celtics are peaking at the right time. White and returning big man Daniel Theis are the team's new acquisitions that look to put the team over the hump. With the right personnel decisions, this team can make some significant noise in the post-season. All they need are a few good games from Tatum and the same defensive intensity they've shown in recent games.
