The NBA continues to brainstorm any and all options for how to possibly return to hoops if and when it's safe—which would likely come at mid-to-late June, at the absolutely earliest. If the league does find a way to have a postseason during the summer, the Boston Celtics (43-21, currently the no. 3 seed in the East) are certainly expecting to contend for a ring.

In any scenario, Celtics center Enes Kanter said he believes the extended layoff due to the coronavirus pandemic means the players will need two to three weeks of training camp to get back in shape before playing high-stakes playoff basketball.

“You can’t just say ‘OK, we’re going to play the games a week later.’ Some players are doing some things. Some players are in their apartments not doing anything,” Kanter said during a conference call with reporters. “We need to make sure everybody is doing their stuff and is in good shape to go out there and compete if we jump straight into playoffs.”

Kanter is still hoping the length of series wouldn't be shortened if a postseason happens, and he's clearly itching to make a deep run with his Celtics squad. “We’re competitors, man. We want to go out there and push through and finish the season. It’s crazy because we have a really good chance to go out there and get a championship. So, it’s like for sure you want to go out there and compete.”
