Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have faced a ton of scrutiny over their partnership through the years. But with the Boston Celtics emerging as one of the serious threats to come out of the East this season, the critics have been much more quiet.

One narrative has been that their personal relationship hasn't been as pleasant as would appear on the surface. With the Celtics experiencing their share of struggles both last season and the beginning of this season, the whispers grew louder on their rumored rift once again, only to subside as they turned in a terrific second half of the year.

In a recent sitdown with NBC Sports' Abby Chin, Jaylen Brown revealed just how the added media scrutiny actually helped his relationship with his Celtics co-star.

Via Darren Hartwell of NBC Sports:

“Somebody asked a question in the media (recently), like, ‘Has all the media attention between you and Jayson kind of made you guys a little closer?' And we were fine before. A lot of media reports were saying that we weren't friends — I don't know where that came from. I think a lot of people were just making stuff up. We were fine,” said the Celtics forward.

“And I think because of that, it made us maybe a little bit closer in a sense, in a weird way. I guess in a sense, to answer your question, our relationship has grown maybe because of that.”

The Boston Celtics have two dynamic talents at the wing position who get along just fine. Perhaps more winning season and some playoff wins could help soothe the narrative around them, but the reality seems to be much more tame than originally framed.
