The Boston Celtics made history Tuesday night when they hammered the Philadelphia 76ers by 48 points on the road. They won 135-87, and in the process, became the first team in NBA history to win three consecutive road games by 30 or more points.

Last week, the Celtics defeated the Brooklyn Nets 126-91. A couple nights prior, they hammered the Orlando Magic 116-83. In the win over the Nets, Brooklyn did not have Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving or James Harden. So, many people didn't put too much stock into that game. The win over the Magic speaks for itself as Orlando has one of the worst records in the NBA.

But the win tonight over the Sixers was a statement. Even though Harden has not suited up for Philadelphia yet, it was still the same team that had been playing extremely well lately. That didn't matter. Boston got whatever they wanted on the offensive end and completely shut down Joel Embiid and the Sixers offense.

Embiid finished the game with 19 points but 13 of them came from the free throw line. He shot 3-9 from the floor.

Meanwhile, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown combined for 57 points and 20 rebounds. The Celtics even got their newest addition, Derrick White, involved. He scored 11 points off the bench in 28 minutes.

The Celtics have now won nine straight games and have climbed within 3.5 games of the top-seeded Miami Heat. That's the same Heat team that Boston beat by 30 points at home a couple weeks ago.
