The Rookie of the Year award may be down to Ben Simmons and Donovan Mitchell, but Boston Celtics first-year player Jayson Tatum is putting himself in a good position to eventually become the best player out of this draft class.

Tatum has taken the postseason by storm, in 10 games dating back to the first round, the former Duke Blue Devil is averaging 18.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. But what's more impressive is Tatum's performance over the past five games where he has scored at least 20 points in each contest.

The Celtics rookie even made NBA history after his team's Game 3 win over the Philadelphia 76ers.

At Wells Fargo Center, Tatum poured in 24 points on 11-of-17 field goals. He is showing great maturity and excellent efficiency for someone his age and playing in the playoffs' tension-filled stage. He already had his work cut out for him right after his debut when Gordon Hayward went down for the season, but his responsibilities became larger when All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving was shut down due to a knee injury.

He has definitely endeared himself even more to passionate Celtics fans and his presence assures them that this team will be in good hands for the foreseeable future.
